DIY | Flower Bouquet with Flower Wreath from Ivy in the Shape of Heart

DIY: Strauß mit Blumenmanschette aus Efeu in Herzform

Today I show you how to make a very special flower bouquet with a flower wreath yourself. The wreath is tied from ivy vines and wire and shaped into a heart. The wreath serves as a bouquet holder and makes it easy to arrange roses, lisianthus and snapdragons to create a pretty heart-shaped bouquet decoration. Perfect for giving as a gift for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or a birthday!

With the following step by step instructions you can easily make the hearth wreath and flower bouquet yourself!

Tools

Here you can see what tools I used for the bouquet with heart wreath. You need a pair of flower scissors to cut flowers, a wire cutter to cut wire and a pair of household scissors to cut the felt cord.

Instruction | Bouquet with flower wreath in the shape of heart

Step 1: Cut ivy vines

The first step is to cut the ivy vines for the heart wreath. I use the flower scissors for this and cut 8 pieces of equal length (about 40 cm).

Step 2: Wrap ivy vines with wire

From the eight ivy vines, I form two cords with four ivy vines each. Each cord is now wrapped with the green floral wire from bottom to top.

I cut the wire with the wire cutter.

Step 3: Shape a heart

Now, a heart is formed from the two ivy cords.

To do this, I cut two longer pieces of wire from the strong floral wire with the wire cutter.

Then I put the ivy strands side by side and wrap and twist the bottom ends with a piece of wire.

Then I form a curve with both cords to make a heart.

The upper ends are now simply wrapped with the other piece of wire and twisted.

Step 4: Attach felt cord to the ivy heart

I cut a piece of felt cord with the scissors and wrap it around the ivy heart.

Step 5: Make a holder for heart-shaped flower wreath

Now, a holder out of wire is made and attached to the ivy heart. To do this, I cut 4 long pieces of wire with the wire cutter (about 60 cm).

I bend the pieces of wire in the middle.

I attach the wire pieces to the top, bottom and sides.

To do this, I put the wire on the ivy heart and wrap the wire around. Then, I pull the ends through the loop.

Then I take three cords of wire together and wrap them with the fourth piece of wire.

Step 6: Cut flowers

Now I cut roses, lisianthus and snapdragons and remove the lower leaves.

Step 7: Arrange flowers

Now I hold the heart wreath in one hand and use the other hand to insert the flowers.

Step 8: Wrap bouquet with raffia ribbon

In the final step, I wrap the flower bouquet several times with the pink raffia ribbon and knot the ends.

If the stems are of different lengths, you can adjust them with the flower scissors.

And ready is the flower bouquet with a heart-shaped wreath! I hope this DIY has made you as much fun as me and you like the sight of the flower decoration!
