DIY | Candle Holder with Loofah and Dried Flowers

DIY: Kerzenständer aus Luffa mit Trockenblumen

Today I show you a simple and quick DIY idea with loofah cucumber: a candle holder made of loofah with dried flowers.

You may have noticed that I love to be creative with the loofah cucumber :). I have already made several DIYs with it! For example, a egg cup from loofah, a hanging floral arrangement and a table flower arrangement with snowdrops.

Candle holder made of loofah with dried flowers and an LED candle.

The candle holder with dried flowers is very easy to make yourself with the following instructions in a few steps! Since mainly dry natural materials are used, I use a LED tea light instead of a real candle for safety reasons of fire hazard!

Tools

Here you can see what tools I used for the candle holder. You need a pair of flower shears (or similar) to hollow out the loofah cucumber and a pair of household scissors to cut the jute string.

Materials

I used these materials for the candle holder with dried flowers: a loofah cucumber, a pink LED tea light and jute twine. The candlestick is decorated with various dried flowers, such as roses, baby’s breath and sea-lavender.

Tutorial | DIY candle holder from loofah with dried flowers

Step 1: Hollow out loofah cucumber

My loofah cucumber already had the desired height for the candle holder, so I didn’t have to change anything. If you want to adjust the height for your candle holder, you can simply cut off a piece with a standard household knife.

The first step is to hollow out the upper part of the loofah cucumber for the LED tea light. I use a pair of flower shears and cut out individual parts until the LED tea light fits inside. I like when the tea light is not so deep inside and you can still see its upper part.

Step 2: Wrap jute twine around loofah cucumber

In the second step, I cut a long piece of jute twine, wrap it loosely around the loofah cucumber several times and knot the ends. Make sure that the twine is not too tight, because there must still be room for the flower stems.

Step 3: Arrange dried flowers

In the third step, the dried flowers are simply put through the jute string.

I arrange the dried flowers at different heights and cut off stems that are too long with the flower shears.

Step 4: Insert LED tea light into candle holder

The last step is just to put the LED tea light in the candle holder.

Light on – and the candle decoration is ready! I hope you enjoyed this DIY as much as I did and you like the sight of the candle holder made of loofah with dried flowers!
